After several years of suffering with throat and lung...
After several years of suffering with throat and lung trouble, which was pronounced serious by physicians, and after using all the material remedies offered to me by them and by friends, I was told that it was necessary to have a change of climate. I was then located in Indiana, but I sacrificed my business and everything, and went to Phoenix, Arizona, for my health. We rented a house from people who were Christian Scientists, and after a short acquaintance they began to supply us with Science literature; then we were invited to attend the church services, which we did gladly. After a short investigation of Christian Science, I concluded to first try it for the tobacco habit. I had been an inveterate user of the weed for about eighteen years, and had tried to give it up several times, but without success. I took three treatments from a practitioner, which not only cured me of this habit, but also cured me of my throat and lung trouble. This was about three years ago, and I have never had any return of it. I have gained about thirty-five pounds in weight. I also wish to state that my wife was cured of serious ailments, after having failed to find relief through material means, including several operations. My sense of gratitude goes out to God, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, through whose discovery and teaching this great blessing has come to us. I wish to show how grateful I am by trying to live the teachings of Christ Jesus, as made practical in Christian Science.
