About fifteen years ago I was taken down with serious rheumatic trouble, and doctored with a number of the prominent physicians of this city, used material remedies, etc., without getting any relief. Six years ago the trouble became so severe that I was confined to my bed. I continued treatment with the doctors for ten months, at which time I became so discouraged that I wanted to die. Medicine having utterly failed me, I now asked for treatment from my sister, a Christian Scientist, who was living in Chicago. She treated me absently for two months, when she wished me to come to Chicago. This I did, and received another month's treatment; when I considered myself well and returned home. Some weeks after this I was again taken sick, and went to the doctor, who told me I had a good start of a serious kidney disease, and was not long for this earth. I took some of his medicine for about two weeks, receiving no benefit. Getting worse right along, I gave up the doctor and again wrote my sister, telling her what the doctor had said; and in a very short time, under her treatment, I was well. The different physicians, with all of whom I have been acquainted some twenty years, were greatly surprised at my healing. They knew I had been troubled for years, and had seen me around on my crutches for months, and they occasionally remark to me, "So you got out of your rheumatism all right!" This healing occurred five years ago, since which time I have been entirely free, have never taken any medicine, and am not afraid to get my feet wet, nor of being in a draught. The expenses during the ten years of my illness were very great, for during the entire time I was never without medical attendance or medicines. To say that I am thankful for what Christian Science has done for me and what I have been lifted out of, is a very small thing to say. Now that I am a Christian Scientist myself, I am able, through the understanding of God, as taught in our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," not only to keep myself and my family well, but it also helps me in my business and in every way.—ADOLPH BAEUERLEN, Winona, Minn.
