For many years before I first heard of Christian Science,...
For many years before I first heard of Christian Science, in fact so long as I can remember, I had been a slave to the supposed laws of health and of matter. From birth I had been considered a delicate child and I do not remember a time when I was not taking medicine for one ailment or another. When we finally moved to a supposedly malarial climate I had another trouble, a fever, which kept me from school for months at a time. I had the most careful treatment by the best physician here, but received no help. Through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. and the help of a kind practitioner. I am now perfectly free, and know that I am because "God made all His creatures free" (Christian Science Hymnal). I am very grateful for the understanding of this truth, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy. who wrote the wonderful book Science and Health, which is doing so much good in the world. I wish to say, too, that all my treatments were absent. I am thankful not only for the freedom which Christian Science has given me, but also that it has enabled me to help others who are in bondage.
