In this day when the big Goliath of the flesh is...
In this day when the big Goliath of the flesh is arrayed for battle against the spiritual idea as set forth by our beloved Leader, our thoughts turn more and more to her with unspeakable love and gratitude. What it means to be led out of Egyptian darkness into the light, only those who have received the blessing can know. Twenty-five years ago a famous oculist pronounced my eyes of very little use. The trouble was partially remedied by glasses, but a serious condition which was the result of a severe blow was always with me. Until I came into Science, three years ago, there never lived a more obedient slave than I to the slightest hint from my eyes that they needed a rest, or to be bathed, etc. Three years ago, however, I became so busy reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, that I had no time left to heed any complaints from weak eyes, so they very soon ceased troubling me, but I was not entirely free until last summer, when, while traveling in Italy, I accidentally broke all the eye-glasses I had with me. It took all summer to complete the cure, but the healing came slowly yet surely. The joyful sense of mental freedom that came with it—who can tell! I know that now I can see, and that this healing proves the love of God for His children. Because of this a constant song of thanksgiving rises to the lips for the blessed life and work of dear Mrs. Eddy, who has for forty years led her followers through the wilderness, towards the promised land. We all know she is safe in divine Love, and that God will deliver her from "the snare of the fowler."—Jean C. Green, Jamestown, R. I.
