Prior to April, 1899, and while residing at Charlieville, La., I suffered four years' semi-invalidism from a complication of diseases, and was in a serious condition. Never having been strong, even as a child, my health grew steadily worse after the birth of my child, and although I had the best medical treatment and observed a strict adherence to the laws of hygiene, health foods, etc., I was only temporarily benefited by anything I tried.

I had never seen a Christian Scientist, or a copy of Science and Health, nor had I ever heard anything favorable of Christian Science; but I was searching for health, and striving for the higher life, and when a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel fell into my hands I was ready to investigate anything which seemed to offer me ground of hope. I at once ordered a copy of Science and Health, and after reading it almost constantly for about two weeks, I suddenly awakened to the realization of the fact that every physical ailment had disappeared except an abnormal growth, which did not entirely disappear until about three months after.

For this physical healing I feel very grateful, but for the spiritual uplifting, and the understanding of Life, Truth, and Love, words are inadequate to express my gratitude to God for what He has given us through our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in Christian Science.
