I first heard of Christian Science in 1897
I first heard of Christian Science in 1897. At that time I had been suffering from eye trouble for more than fifteen years, and had worn glasses most of that time. My glasses had been changed by an optician in 1895, but it gave me great pain to use my eyes for any length of time. I commenced taking Christian Science treatment in April, 1897, after had read the text-book for a few weeks; and after the second treatment I laid aside my glasses and have used my eyes constantly since then with no bad effect whatever. In 1884 I had an illness which left my throat in a very weak condition, and from that time till 1897 I had periodical attacks each winter, which often kept me in bed for a week or more, and my throat seldom if ever felt perfectly well. I was also subject to attacks of stomach trouble, etc. I took treatment four weeks, and during that time I was relieved of the throat and stomach trouble, and felt that if I persevered with the study of Science and Health I would be perfectly healed, and so it has proved. In about one year's study I found myself entirely healed, and I have not lost one day through sickness since I first became interested in Christian Science.
Words cannot express the deep sense of gratitude which I feel to our beloved Leader, as Christian Science unfolds to me through the study of our literature.
