I feel it my duty to return thanks for the many blessings...

I feel it my duty to return thanks for the many blessings that have come to me in my three years' study of Christian Science. My work up to the present has been more in the overcoming of bad habits than in physical healing, although I have realized Truth's power in this direction also. I will mention one or two experiences which are to me as milestones in my journey from sense to Soul. The habit of smoking was the first to go. I had often tried to overcome it through will-power, but was never successful. After studying Christian Science for three months the habit completely left me. I think this expresses the situation, because I did not work against the habit at all, it simply vanished. The next to go was the habit of drinking. Although I was moderate, still the habit was there and such habits are like weeds, which grow very fast if not uprooted. I am, therefore, very thankful to say that this evil also has completely disappeared, and although my work as a traveler brings me in contact with those who drink, it is a pleasure for me to say "No," when it is offered me. These two experiences alone are to me a convincing proof of the saving power of Christian Science,—that it really cleanses the sinner as well as heals the sick. Another grand proof that Christian Science is of God, is the intense desire for spiritual things which it has given me. Before reading Science and Health I seldom read the Bible, and now it is my constant companion, my guide-book. I begin to understand what the Master meant when he said that "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Is it any wonder that we love Mrs. Eddy, the one who has brought us this practical seven-days-in-the-week religion?

Walter J. Marson, Beverley, Yorkshire, England.

Paul says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Since coming into Science I have proven this statement true many times and in many ways. I could not begin to tell in a short testimony half the experiences I have had which have proven the power of good over evil. Before knowing anything about Christian Science I could not remember when I did not have trouble with my eyes. I was treated by different doctors, and was told that eventually I would become blind. When I first began reading Science and Health, if I attempted to read at night I experienced much trouble, but now I can read as much as I wish, night or day, without any inconvenience whatever.
