I write these lines in gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me after years of suffering. I was suddently taken very ill one night, and two physicians were hurriedly called, one of whom had been attending me for some time, and had done for me all that materia medica could do. Their final verdict was that it would he weeks before I could expect to be even comfortably well; also that I was liable to another attack at any time, with the most serious results. My sister had been healed by Christian Science several years before, after all other remedies had failed, and she was now sent for. She arrived about three o'clock, and by nine o'clock I was asleep, the first time in many hours. About midnight I awoke, and to my joy found myself well. The second day the doctor, who had before this been coming at least twice a day, discharged himself, saying I was perfectly well, though he did not understand what had cured me.

My physical healing was quick, but it took months and even years for me to get a glimpse of the great spiritual truth that Christian Science is teaching the world. I have many time had to prove this truth, both for myself and others, and in this way have taken a few steps on the road along which our Leader is so far in advance. I have no words in which to express my gratitude to God, and to her for what she has done; but by works, not words, we are known.—Jessie H. Carrick, St. Johnsbury, Vt.
