When I first heard of Christian Science I had suffered for twelve years from a severe pain in the side, which was diagnosed as kidney trouble and necessitated frequent lying down in order to get any relief. I was also a sufferer from heart disease, and as I was growing worse each year, in spite of all medical aid, I readily listened to a friend when told of the relief she had gained in Christian Science. I at once bought a copy of Science and Health, and began to read it. It seemed to me the most beautiful teaching I had ever read, and to be exactly what I had been looking for all my life. As I read all my sickness was healed, and I was a well woman; but with health came the necessity to devote myself to business, and gradually I neglected to read the literature. I lived thus for eighteen months, so immersed in business that I seemed to have no time for anything else. About this time I noticed two small growths, one in either breast, which grew rapidly. As a doctor was attending my husband at the time, I asked him to treat me also. I faithfully carried out his directions for months, even after he had pronounced an operation the only hope. It was at last borne in upon me that something else must be done, as I was growing rapidly worse, the pain preventing me from sleeping at night. I dreaded the knife, as two sisters had passed away through operations for the same trouble, and in this extremity I turned to Christian Science and took treatment. The first treatment relieved all pain, and with less than ten treatments I was entirely healed. That was two years ago, and I have had no return of the trouble. I have had many proofs of the power of Truth to save from the various troubles which beset us in daily experience, and I have proved that Truth is an efficient and efficacious remedy for error.—Mrs. Eva Gilmore, Hamilton, Canada.
