MRS. EDDY'S REPLY TO THE JANUARY MC CLURE ARTICLE

This article was later republished in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany: My. 308:5-316:8

[We are republishing this article because in our desire to secure its insertion in last week's Sentinel the matter was rushed into type at such short notice that a correction in the name of a town was overlooked, and not discovered until too late to rectify the mistake in that issue. This we regret, and make herewith the only reparation in our power. The lines "While I was living with Dr. Patterson at his country home in Rumney, N. H., " should have read "While I was living with Dr. Patterson at his country home in North Groton, N. H.;" again, the sentence "He bought a place in Rumney, which he fancied, for a summer home," should have read, "He bought a place in North Groton, which he fancied, for a summer home."—Editor.]

It is calumny on Christian Science to say that man is aroused to thought or action only by ease, pleasure, or recompense. Something higher, nobler, more imperative, impels the impulse of Soul.
