While Christian Scientists accept the Scriptural account...

Town Topics

While Christian Scientists accept the Scriptural account of the miraculous feeding of thousands, they do not believe that Jesus mesmerized the multitudes into believing that they had partaken of food that had only a fabulous existence, but that he actually multiplied the food through his higher understanding of the creative power of divine Mind. They do not, however, claim to perform such miracles to-day, but are proving to their own satisfaction that through the greatest freedom from worry and sickness and the consequent greater mental activity they are able to supply themselves with the necessities and comforts of life more easily than before Christian Science came to them. Science and Health, pages 254 and 461, says, "To stop eating, drinking, or being clothed materially, before the spiritual facts of existence are gained step by step, is not legitimate." "I do not maintain that you or I can exist in the flesh without breath, food, and raiment; but I do believe that man is immortal, and that he lives in Spirit, not matter."

When the critics of Christian Science become candid enough to investigate it fairly and see that "thinking" logically and intelligently is widely different from imagination, they will drop their false criticisms of it and join the already large number of bright, intelligent thinkers of today in bidding it Godspeed for the great good it is doing in saving and uplifting the race.

I would just like to add that there are copies of the Christian Science text-book in the public library, so that those who care to may inform themselves on the subject.
