Invitations are out for a lecture on Christian Science by Edward A. Kimball of Chicago who is described as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Mass. This simple statement would indicate that the local followers of this religious society in this city and surrounding neighborhood, with their friends, are to be addressed by one of the most distinguished members of the Church.

It is not, however, with that phase of the event we wish to deal briefly. More interesting is the act of the officers of the Mishkan Israel Temple on Orange Street in opening its doors to this religious society. The hospitality of the managing officials of the temple can be ascribed to one motive only, and that the willingness to recognize the right of all to their particular methods of worship and belief, and to the readiness as well to share their spacious quarters with earnest people whatever their errand, provided it seriously pretends to benefit humanity.

The officials of Mishkan temple have taught the people of this city and other cities a lesson in good breeding and religious toleration which ought not to be lost sight of. They are as ever faithful to the doctrines of their historic church and are splendidly not afraid that their beautiful temple will be desecrated by the presence of another religious society. The oftener these things are done the nearer shall we all come to the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man.
