I gladly give testimony that Christian Science has healed me of kidney trouble of many years' standing, which had affected me so that I was afraid of losing my reason. In spite of the remedies used, and the different kinds of treatment, my condition grew worse from year to year. In 1895 I began to have very severe stomach and bowel trouble. The attacks became more frequent, so that I ate my meals in anxiety and terror. The disease seemed to have reached its climax when in 1900 I became acquainted with Christian Science. After talking with a practitioner here, I decided to take treatment, and I have never been sorry for it, for I felt relief from the first moment; the pain decreased, the digestion became normal, and my courage and love for work returned. After six weeks' treatment I was dismissed as healed, and although the stomach trouble appeared twice afterwards, for four years I have been entirely free from it. At that time I had almost no understanding of Christian Science, but after my wonderful healing I felt a desire to know more of this glorious teaching. I attended the meetings, read eagerly the Christian Science literature, and soon felt richly rewarded, for it opened to me hitherto unknown treasures.

The understanding that evil is unreal, and the recognition of good as divinely real, soon helped me to overcome my lesser ills and difficulties, but last year I was violently attacked by an eruptive disease. I took Christian Science treatment immediately, and was healed in a short time. During this severe illness I could, to my own surprise, be up every day, in spite of a high fever and inability to sleep at night. My friends did not understand how I could get well so quickly without the aid of a physician, but to me this healing was a new proof of the ever-present power of God, to whom all things are possible. This firm conviction has also helped me in demonstrating the power of Truth in different cases for myself and others. Later I was attacked by a painful eye trouble, but was again treated and soon was well; yet not very long afterwards the trouble again appeared, when I searched for the error underlying it, and thus began to work for myself. My work was not in vain, for after a short time the pain disappeared and my eyes became normal. The true recognition of good had set me free. This gave me new courage in assisting others.

For all these blessings I am indeed grateful to God, and hope that many may come into this true Christ-teaching, which I believe is the only one to better mankind and to keep them well.
