Shortly before Christmas, in 1905, my eyes became sensitive to the light and at times quite painful. I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner. Having some sewing I wished to finish, I worked constantly for several days, when my eyes seemed to give out completely. Several years before, my husband had had a similar trouble and one of San Francisco's foremost oculists had pronounced it a serious case. Believing my eyes to be in worse condition than his had been, I felt that I was face to face with a very difficult problem. I knew the practitioner to be very firm in her reliance upon Truth, as revealed in Christian Science, and that knowledge helped me in my decision to rely solely upon God for deliverance. I wrote, telling her how urgent was my need of help. I no longer felt any fear as to the outcome, though I felt obliged to exclude every ray of light from the room, the sense of suffering at times being intense. There was no visible improvement till the night of the following day, when the pain vanished, suddenly and completely. There was no further need of a dark room. In less than a week I was using my eyes as freely as ever, with no sense of inconvenience whatever, and they have given me no further trouble. Shortly after this experience my husband's throat became sore, and as we were unable to overcome the trouble, we again asked for help. As the treatment was absent there was some delay in reaching our practitioner, but as conditions were made known to her they were quickly overcome. In a week health was restored and strength rapidly regained.

These and other benefits I have received from Christian Science have assured me that the faithful application of the truth will finally remove every obstacle to the expression of health and harmony. With gratitude I acknowledge the great good Mrs. Eddy has brought to humanity in this fuller understanding of God.
