It is nearly five years since I first heard of Christian Science, and during that time I have been perfectly healed of catarrh and several other diseases through the reading of Science and Health. I would like to speak of an accident which I met with while working in a laundry. My right hand was caught in a mangle, which was heated by gas and run by electricity. I think my hand was in the mangle about one minute before they could let me out, and was both burned and crushed. The middle finger was nearly taken off at the end. I declared the truth, and felt that God was an ever-present help in trouble. My daughter and I were the only ones there that knew anything about Christian Science, so they naturally suggested having a doctor come in and take care of my hand. I refused and asked them to telephone to a Christian Science practitioner to give me treatment, which they did immediately. To mortal sense the pain and burning was terrible for a half hour, when all sense of suffering left me. I was under absent treatment the most of that time. While the healing seemed slow, I never lost one night's rest, and to-day I can thank God and our dear Leader that I have the use of my hand as well as ever,—Mrs. Mary E. Burns, Scranton, Pa.
