I first heard of Christian Science in 1893 through the healing of an aunt. My sister and mother took up the study of Science and Health the following year and my mother was healed of many chronic troubles, among them violent sick headaches, through the treatment of a very young Scientist. I admitted that Christian Science was the truth, but studied very little until the fall of 1897. We have had many cases of healing in our family, most of them in from one to two weeks through absent treatment, slow fever, hernia, severe internal injuries produced by a fall from a trapeze, and black jaundice, being among the cases healed.
I have had many blessings through Christian Science, physically and mentally; but the case I wish to tell of was my experience in childbirth, it being my first. My practitioner had, however, had experience in handling such cases and I had perfect confidence in her ability to prove the truth for me through Christian Science treatment. During the early period I was very ill, and this condition lasted until even water could not be retained on the stomach. At this point I was completely healed, and during the remainder of the time I was remarkably well.
At the end of a week I had entire care of the baby. I walked about the room each day, and soon resumed my home duties, feeling strong and well. In about nine months after this, prolapsus appeared, and while I was talking to my practitioner about it, the trouble was overcome, and in a day or two all sense of irritation had disappeared and has never returned.
