When I think of testifying to what Christian Science has...
When I think of testifying to what Christian Science has done for me, I know not where to begin nor what to say; it is beyond human expression. First of all, it has given me a new heaven and a new earth; second, it has enabled me to find the God who is an ever-present help. Without Christian Science I should have been in the very depths of despair through grief, separation, and loss, where human help and hope could never have reached me. I can say I have been through the fire untouched. I can only show my gratitude to our Father-Mother God, and to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science by consecrating my energies to this Cause.
I wish to speak of a recent demonstration. My little boy in playing with the cat fell on her in such a way that, through fear or pain, she bit him just above the joint of the thumb. He came screaming to me, and I held strongly to the truth. The crying soon ceased and I heard no more about it. This happened about seven o'clock in the evening, and during the night he cried out once in such a way that I knew there was more work needed, a stronger realization of the Truth of being. There was no further disturbance until the afternoon of the next day, when he complained again of the thumb, and screamed with pain when his arm was touched. I then noticed that his entire hand was much swollen, and he said it hurt him almost to the shoulder, and expressed great fear of the pain extending up and into the other arm. He thought it was blood poison, and that it would be the end of him; he said lots of people were taken to the hospital for blood poison. It was clear to me that his fear must be met. I had to destroy some fear in my own thought, as error put forth such a seemingly strong argument. That I was able to turn from the fear and know that Truth is the only reality, was worth all I have sacrificed to gain it. By the steadfast knowing of Truth and by obedience to the one law, he was very happy the next morning to show me he could move his fingers. He had perfect use of his hand, the pain was entirely gone, and before the close of the second day the demonstration was complete.
While I have great reason to be thankful for many victories over error various ways, I feel a special sense of gratitude for this recent demonstration.
