The True Mind Healing
Granite State News
There is a wide difference between healing that is wrought upon the basis that the curative power, God, is matter and Spirit working in unison, and healing that is wrought upon the basis that the curative power, God, is Spirit, Mind, Life, Truth, and Love. The logical deduction of the former is evolution—the commingling of the animal and the spiritual in a fleshly body; from the latter the conclusion follows as logically as four follows the postulate two times two, that the creation is wholly a mental or spiritual unfoldment wherein matter, sin, disease, and death have no part. Since matter and evil are not present in the premise it cannot appear as a reality in the conclusion.
When Christian Scientists speak of healing the body through Mind they do not refer to the so-called human mind but the divine Mind, God. Now here is where the critic, speaking from his standpoint, has failed in his effort to understand Christian Science and therefore misrepresented it. Christian Scientists deny the reality of matter and disease just as men ordinarily deny the imputation that five could possibly be the manifestation or child of two times two, and have the fruits as proof, just as the mathematician has the proof that four is a legitimate and real product while five is illegitimate and unreal, no matter how firmly one may think he believes it. Truly does the poet, speaking of the way things appear before our material senses and mindful of what the Scriptures say of God and His real creation, declare, "Things are not what they seem."
Christian Scientists deplore the tendency to explain the Bible materially, and to drag the mission of Jesus down to the level of mind cure and magnetic healing. Jesus constantly taught that the works which he did were in his Father's name and were evidences that the things which he understood and taught were true. They were not theories which he had himself invented, but truths which have their origin and foundation in God.
