The Value of the Truth

DIVINE SCIENCE, —the little book in the hand of the angel, what a priceless treasure! Can its value be estimated by human standards? and yet, its price is sometimes criticised. In what consists its value? Is it not its high quality of thought, and the sacrifice required to bring it forth?

The demonstration of Divine Science by Jesus cost him much, and we must have a true conception of his work for humanity, in order to understand his words. This is revealed to us in Science and Health, through which we gain a spiritual sense of the Word; the Bible is illumined to our apprehension, and its teachings made practical in the healing of all our ills.

We must also have a just sense of what it has cost our dear Leader, to bring to us this message of Life. Persecution has followed every effort to give to the world the knowledge of Truth. Our text-book says, "When Christian Science and animal magnetism are both comprehended, as they will be, at no distant date, it will be seen why the pioneer of this Science has been so unjustly persecuted, and belied by wolves in sheep's clothing" (Science and Health, p. 104).
