Christian Science teaches the science of right doing, and while it privides a way in which disease and suffering can be alleviated without recourse to hospitals and asylums, Christian Scientists recognize the present necessity for these institutions and, in many instances, are to be found among those who contribute to their support.

The Leader of the Christian Science movement, Mrs. Eddy, has satisfied many thoughtful and devoted Christians that her interpretation of the Scripture heals as well as saves. Christian Science is identical with the teachings and practice of Jesus of Nazareth. There is no question but what the "signs" which he promised should "follow them that believe," are being brought forth to-day in Christian Science. The fact should not be lost sight of that the great majority of Christian Scientists have had in the past much experience with medicine, as well as years of close association with other Christians, and are therefore qualified to exercise reasonably good judgment in matters pertaining to religious and medical beliefs. They know whereof they speak, and their judgment should not be lightly set aside.

Christ Jesus is the great exemplar, and his life and works are taken as the guide to right thinking and doing. Christian Science strives to make practical the "effectual, fervent prayer," which "availeth much." Albert E. Miller.
