"And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim."...
"And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim." This verse of Scripture has come to me many times since my healing of a severe eye trouble just three years ago. I had taken treatment of four different oculists considered among the best in Boston. I had worn glasses constantly for six years, and previous to this time had worn them off and on for about two years when I attempted to do any near work.
My principal trouble seemed to be an inability to use my eyes for any near work without suffering terribly. After each attempt to read or sew I would have to go to bed and have the windows darkened so that no light could reach my eyes. Three of the oculists with whom I treated said that I had muscular trouble, and the fourth one said that I had compound astigmatism also. One of them advised me to have an operation performed which he said consisted in taking a pleat in the muscles, but to this I would not agree. No hope was given me that I should ever be able to go without glasses.
I had heard of Christian Science through the healing of a friend but was not ready at that time to accept it. However, the time came when I saw that the oculist was not helping me, and I then turned to Christian Science. I took treatment of a practitioner and in two weeks' time laid aside my glasses and have never felt the need of them since. The fear at that time was very great, so I continued treatment until it was destroyed. During this time I was healed of a nervous trouble brought on by the condition of my eyes. For this, and for the many blessings which have come to me since accepting Christian Science and especially for the spiritual uplifting which came with the healing, I am very grateful to God, to our dear Leader through whom God has revealed this truth to this age, and to the practitioner through whose faithful work this demonstration was made possible.
