CHRISTIAN SCIENCE is declaring to the world in no uncertain manner the omnipotence of God, the truth that God is infinite in power. And in doing so it accepts all that the statement implies. Thus, Christian Science teaches that there is no real power apart from God; or, since God is infinite good, that there is no reality and therefore no power in aught that is not good. This is the same as saying that there is neither reality nor power in evil, whatever form the evil belief may seem to take. Referring to God as all-inclusive Mind, on page 206 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes: "Omnipotent and infinite Mind made all and includes all. This Mind does not make mistakes and subsequently correct them."

The truth, then, is that there is only one real power, namely, God, Mind, or Spirit, and consequently that there is no reality in matter or evil. Christian Science holds to this truth in spite of all that material sense may argue to the contrary. More than this, it gives an absolute denial to every argument of material sense. But here the student may believe himself in a quandary; for on the one hand he finds himself forced to accept the truth of God's allness and omnipotence, and on the other he has difficulty in denying the reality of matter and evil because of the persistence with which material sense urges their claims. What shall he do? He should begin to prove the truth for himself by healing sickness through overcoming the belief that matter and material law are real. Our revered Leader says (ibid., p. 109), "Christian Science reveals incontrovertibly that Mind is All-in-all, that the only realities are the divine Mind and idea. This great fact is not, however, seen to be supported by sensible evidence, until its divine Principle is demonstrated by healing the sick and thus proved absolute and divine," adding, "This proof once seen, no other conclusion can be reached."

Christian Scientists to-day are endeavoring to fulfill Mrs. Eddy's words by healing the sick through the understanding of the allness and omnipotence of God. They are healing sin in the same way. What joy one experiences at seeing a disease vanish that perhaps for a long time has given trouble! What gratitude one feels for the knowledge Christian Science has given of omnipotent, omnipresent good that can empower one to do this! But with joy and gratitude there comes the longing, the desire, to realize yet more fully and clearly the truth of God's omnipotence, that one may do still greater works of healing.

How shall we better apprehend the fact that for everyone there is available the unlimited power of God, good? How shall we better utilize God's unlimited goodness in order to destroy the illusion that evil in any guise exists as reality? By prayerful study and contemplation of the Word of God as it is revealed in the Bible and Science and Health, and by holding thought steadfastly to the truth, striving continually for the victory over material sense. Our thought must become imbued with spiritual truth in order that we may see the nothingness of materiality, and so overcome it. Is not this the state of consciousness which is commonly spoken of as holiness? Then it is a greater degree of holiness that is required by all who would heal disease and sin more efficiently through spiritual understanding.

Christian Science has done great work during the little more than sixty years since its discovery by Mrs. Eddy, in making men acknowledge the truth of God's omnipotence. Not only is the fact accepted by numerous Christian Scientists to-day, but it is acknowledged by many others throughout the world. Mrs. Eddy foresaw that this should come to pass, and that the truth would not fail to do the healing work wherever it was declared. Thus, she writes on page 345 of Science and Health, "When the omnipotence of God is preached and His absoluteness is set forth, Christian sermons will heal the sick." How simply is the universality and healing power of Truth acknowledged in these gracious words!

The Psalmist says, "God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God." In Isaiah it is written, "I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God." And Paul writes to the Corinthians, "There are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all." How widely acknowledged was God's allness, God's omnipotence, by those who understood His nature and reverenced His holy name! Christian Science to-day is faithfully proclaiming the unlimited power of God and teaching all who will how, scientifically, to utilize this power in the overcoming of all unlike good. Christian Scientists can see what is in store for all humanity—victory over every claim of evil; happiness, harmony, and peace.
