God's Day

The Psalmist says, "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." In the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. vii), Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has written, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings."

When we are "leaning on the sustaining infinite," could we experience any other than a perfect, good, joyous, and happy day? Our Leader defines "day" (ibid., p. 584) as "the irradiance of Life; light, the spiritual idea of Truth and Love." And she adds, referring to the fact that "Mind measures time according to the good that is unfolded," "This unfolding is God's day, and 'there shall be no night there.' " When we are willing to trust divine Love, we are allowing this light, spiritual understanding, to unfold in our consciousness; and as we do so we receive the blessings our heavenly Father-Mother God bestows on His children.

If we seem to be laboring over some problem, whether physical, mental, or moral, it matters not how intricate, complicated, or serious it may seem to be, or how long we may have been struggling to free ourselves or others—the instant the light of spiritual understanding shines in our thought the unfoldment of the solution begins to present itself to us. The answer is already in divine Mind; for Mind is all-knowing, and its truth unfolds to us as we cast aside the clouds of false belief and accept it. Truth is fixed; nothing can change it. It is the Christ which comes to us in tender love, and dispels the clouds of evil, when we are ready to look for the light, to listen for God's voice and to put aside self-will, pride, fear, self-love, resentment, and all other ungodlike qualities. We must abide in this light in the face of any testimony of the material senses that tries to hide the truth, and thereby mesmerize us into believing the lie.
