British Columbian
A letter with the title "Amused and Grieved," and signed "Satisfied," appeared in your columns October 31. The content of the letter proves that "Satisfied" does not know his subject.
"Satisfied" endeavored to prove that Christian Science does not agree at any point with the Scriptures. The following information may be of interest to your readers as a reply to some of the questions raised:
1. It is true that Christian Science does not teach us to believe in a limited and personal manlike God, but it does teach us that our concern should be to become more Godlike. Christian Science teaches its adherents that a safe guide for measuring a Christian's understanding of God is to be found in his Christian attitude, for "he that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." James brings out the fact that with God there is "no variableness." In addition to the statement that "God is love" we find that "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
