Our "Daily Prayer"

In the practical demonstration of our "Daily Prayer," as given in the Church Manual (Art. VIII, Sect. 4), is employment for all. He who truly prays, "Thy kingdom come," is actively engaged in the establishment of God's kingdom on earth. That in itself is a life-work which can be proved elevating and profitable to everyone engaged in it.

Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and Leader of the movement, defines the "kingdom of heaven" on page 590 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" as "the reign of harmony in divine Science; the realm of unerring, eternal, and omnipotent Mind; the atmosphere of Spirit, where Soul is supreme;" and in the "Daily Prayer" already referred to she points out clearly where and how this kingdom is to be established. Her statement is in line with that of our Master, "The kingdom of God is within you;" for the "Daily Prayer" continues, "Let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin."

He who honestly desires the reign of Truth to be established in his thinking is ready to submit to the process of purification which this reign entails. Truth is true, honest, pure; and in order to perceive Truth despite all the errors of belief, purity of motive and honesty of purpose are required. Truth brings the light; and when it is received into one's consciousness it unveils the falsity of material beliefs and reveals the allness of God, in "the beauty of holiness." This often causes what Mrs. Eddy calls "chemicalization"; but as the truth of being is clung to, and the errors of material sense are given up, Truth is found to bring freedom by ruling out falsity, impurity, insincerity, dishonesty.
