THE VALUE OF ENTERTAINING CHRIST

Paul , whose great missionary work included healing the sick and reforming the sinner, as well as preaching the gospel, assured the Romans (10:13), "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall he saved."

In Christian Science we call upon the name of the Lord when we renounce ungodlike thinking and conduct and exemplify Christly qualities in our lives, when we purify our hearts, love God and our neighbor, and deal with others with integrity. The prayer or petition which is effective is one in which God is recognized as supreme in our lives, as ever-present divine Love, Truth, and Life.

Sickly, sinful, and other discordant thoughts are foreign to, yes, the opposite of Christly qualities. Ungodlike thoughts do not belong to God or to His creation, man. Man, God's perfect likeness, embodies only those qualities which originate in God. Evil, sin, disease, death, are not known to God or to His spiritual image and likeness. Man is pure and perfect, and there is no consciousness in God's reflection which is capable of entertaining or suffering from errors of mortal sense.
