THE LIGHT THAT NEVER FAILS

What to think? What to say? What to do? These are questions that continually confront mankind. Spiritual light, the revelation of divine Truth, is ever present to answer these questions. We know this is so, for the Bible tells us that when "darkness was upon the face of the deep ... God said, Let there be light: and there was light" (Gen. 1:2,3).

When we are confronted in human experience with one of these questions, why do we so often grope in the darkness of human reason rather than look for the light which is always present? In the Bible we find a helpful explanation of this in the comments of Elihu to his friend Job, whom he found groping in mental darkness. Said Elihu (job 32:9): "Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment," and again (33:14), "For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceivcth it not."

Accepting the challenge that Elihu implies, we may prove through the teachings of Christian Science that spiritual light is ever present and that we can hear God speak to us whenever troublous problems arise in our experience. At one time the writer was afflicted with a respiratory difficulty which had not responded to Christian Science treatment. Over several months the condition became more disturbing. One ray of hope through this dark period was an absolute conviction that the specific healing truth that was needed to dispose of the lie would surely be revealed as it always had been revealed in the past.
