As a child, I was brought up in Christian Science, and it has always met my every need. One time in particular stands out clearly to me. As I arose to get ready for school one Friday morning, I felt uncomfortable, but I attended my classes anyway.

When I got home, I realized it would be wise to call a practitioner; for my face was swollen, and red spots were appearing all over my body. After talking with the practitioner about the truths of man's perfection, I became calm and turned to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I studied several passages I had learned in Sunday School, especially pages 390–393, and then retired for the night.

The following morning when I awoke, I felt that I was free, I remember I could scarcely get downstairs fast enough to tell my mother. Even though my body now was completely covered with spots and my face misshapen, I felt serene and free from fear. By noontime the spots were fading; and by suppertime my face had resumed its natural contour, and my skin was without a mark.
