With gratitude and humility I offer this testimony of my first healing in Christian Science, and I acknowledge my love for Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of this Science.

I awoke one night in such pain that I could hardly bear it. My husband called a doctor, who diagnosed the trouble as a severe attack of appendicitis and advised an immediate operation. I knew little of Christian Science, but I had had the privilege of visiting in the home of a Christian Scientist, where there was much beauty, love, health, and peace.

I told my husband I would like to try this Science. The doctor said that it would be folly to do so and that I could not live more than three days without an operation. He stated that he would operate free of charge if there was a lack of money, for he did not want our two children to be without a mother.
