"TURN YOURSELVES, AND LIVE YE"

Starting from the premise that God, good, is the perfect creator of a perfect universe, including man, one might naturally inquire, "How came so much wickedness to this planet?" He may point to the fact that a great flood in Noah's time destroyed the wicked of that era, but that evil arose again among the people and has plagued us up to this present day with increasing violence.

Yes, it is clear in considering mortal existence that there seems to be much evil and that the evildoers sometimes appear to go unpunished. At other times the wicked are so imbued with evil that they go with their iniquity to a severe punishment.

What intelligent light does Christian Science throw upon the seemingly drab situation? Christian Science has a message of hope not only for the world but for the wrongdoer who is willing to recognize his error and to turn from it. It is not necessary for the wrongdoer to believe that he must perish. He may, by turning to God and by repentance, gain access to the way of Truth, which will lead him into happiness and goodness. Mary Baker Eddy declares in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 239), "The watchword of Christian Science is Scriptural: 'Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts.'"
