DOMINION THROUGH OVERCOMING

Before spiritual dominion over any situation can be won, there must be an awakening to the possibility of gaining dominion and also an overcoming of the aggressive suggestions of evil. One must begin by putting forth an effort, by awakening to the perfection of God and His creation. By rising into the consciousness of spiritual truth, one is fortified to go forward in his demonstration of Truth.

Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" writes (p. 393): "Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man."

The successful men and women in Biblical times strove to establish and preserve the truth each was destined to impart. How comforting, therefore, is this assurance which Moses, speaking out of his experience, gave to Joshua (Deut. 3:22), "Ye shall not fear them: for the Lord your God he shall fight for you." The battle is not ours but the Lord's. Our task is to meet each foe with the Christ, Truth, the power emanating from God, Soul, the consciousness of all right ideas. God's work is done; it remains only to be recognized. The struggle is mental and consists of exchanging the error or misconception of mortal mind for the truth of God's being, imaged forth by spiritual man and the spiritual universe.
