STUDY THE TRUE IMAGE

IN the first chapter of Genesis we read that God created man in His own image and likeness. The reflection which we see in our mirror, however, is very far from being the reflection which constitutes this God-created man. The material view of man Christian Science reveals to be a mirage produced by so-called mortal mind.

Christian Science accepts the Bible's inspired record of man's creation as true and as the basis for its teachings. "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good," the record goes on to tell us. As we gain a correct understanding of God, we cannot fail to see our true selves as His reflection.

Mary Baker Eddy tells us in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p.13), "Because of human ignorance of the divine Principle, Love, the Father of all is represented as a corporeal creator; hence men recognize themselves as merely physical, and are ignorant of man as God's image or reflection and of man's eternal incorporeal existence."
