On November 4, 1939, through...

On November 4, 1939, through the pages of the Sentinel. I attested to the healing of a so-called incurable physical condition which had appeared in a very alarming form about seven years prior to that time. My fears, and those of some of my family, had prompted me to seek medical aid. Given no hope and completely despondent, I was forced to realize that "man's extremity is God's opportunity," and I turned wholeheartedly to Christian Science, and I was completely healed. During the intervening years Christian Science has been my only physician.

So many untoward conditions have been eradicated through complete reliance on the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that I hardly know where to begin in expressing my gratitude for the blessings received. Most salient is the realization that Christian Science is the way of Life, the demonstrable truth of God and man. Undesirable traits of character have been eliminated by the daily study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The desire for tobacco and liquor, as well as other false appetites, ceased without any conscious effort on my part. More tenacious errors were successfully overcome through the help of patient practitioners.

Particularly impressive are the completeness and permanency of the healings which take place through the application of Christian Science. During the depression years the problem of supply was extremely acute. With the loss of position, savings, and home, I was also confronted with the argument that to seek employment was futile and hopeless. In the throes of fear, I sought help from a practitioner. Apprehension was replaced with hope and expectancy, and ultimately I obtained the position in which I have remained since 1940. There has been no problem of lack since that time.
