My first proof that Christian Science...

My first proof that Christian Science heals was that of an instantaneous healing of a cold through my realization that God is the only cause and that He never created an erroneous condition. The Christian Science Sunday School has been the greatest influence in my life, and I am indeed very grateful to my grandmother for enrolling me in it when I was five years old.

During the Second World War, I was rejected several times for the armed services because of a heart condition. When I was called to take a physical examination for the Army during the Korean conflict, once again I was rejected for the same reason.

That noon I went to see a Christian Science practitioner. I explained the situation to him, and during our talk the one thing that impressed me was his discussion of the great heart of divine Love. He said that my life did not depend upon a material heart, because God is my Life. The practitioner said he would work in Christian Science for me, and I left with a feeling of great confidence.
