For many years the testimonies appearing in the Christian Science periodicals have been of benefit to me, and now I am impelled to relate a few of my experiences. Science has been a source of comfort and help for over fifty years, and I have never resorted to medical aid during that time. I have experienced many healings. A severe attack of ptomaine poisoning was overcome in a few hours.

One morning, as is my custom, I had read the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly previous to starting my day's work and felt well fortified to meet any problem. While I was doing the laundry, my hand caught in the wringer and went through to the wrist. I released my hand and realized instantly that God's child lives in Spirit, not in matter, and could not be harmed.

At that time I was filling an important office in a branch church, and I knew that nothing could keep me from my appointed place. I sat down on the basement stairs and asserted that God had always helped me when a need arose and that He would never fail me. I had no sense of pain; there was just a slight numbness. The skin was not broken nor was the movement of the hand impaired.
