IN "THE LAND OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE"

What does it mean to be a citizen of a country? What are some of the obligations and the privileges of citizenship? We become a citizen of a country either by birth or by acquiring this status. In either case we have to become acquainted with the laws of the land and its rules of behavior and live in conformity with them in order to enjoy the protection, security, and well-being which are the normal privileges of citizenship. If we should be robbed or in any way unjustly treated, we can appeal to a court of law and there claim our rights and refute false accusation and false testimony.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (pp. 226, 227), "I saw before me the awful conflict, the Red Sea and the wilderness; but I pressed on through faith in God, trusting Truth, the strong deliverer, to guide me into the land of Christian Science, where fetters fall and the rights of man are fully known and acknowledged."

When the healing truth of Christian Science dawns in an individual's consciousness, he is born anew. The new birth results in a mental and moral transformation that entitles him to citizenship in "the land of Christian Science." The fundamental laws of this land are found in the Ten Commandments, in Christ Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, in the Rules and By-Laws of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, and in the Tenets of Christian Science, given on page 497 of the textbook, Science and Health.
