"THE FULLNESS OF HIS BLESSING"

Let us picture a Galilean mountainside thronged with people. All the countryside had heard of Jesus; many had brought to him their sick and insane, and all had been healed. Still they did not depart. Must they not have instinctively felt that they were to find something more than physical release, welcome as that had been?

From the mountainside, Jesus looked down at the multitude. He had much to tell his disciples, a great message to give to the world. Was it not a fitting preparation for their assimilation of these truths that he should enumerate the blessings which belonged to the seeking thought there present? Conscious, as he always was of man's oneness, or unity, with the Father, he declared (Matt. 5:3), "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." The meek, the peacemaker, and the pure in heart are some that were called to mind, and the fullness of the blessing inherent in each quality of thought was given recognition. Is it any wonder that Jesus words have lived through the centuries, teaching with authority all who are looking for spiritual refreshment and enlightenment?

To our church services, our Reading Rooms, our lectures, comes the same seeking thought. Many, like those on that day of long ago, have had a healing and wish to gain more of the Christ, Truth. Others have seen some life regenerated and want to know how this transformation came to be. All have some need they want to have filled. May we be ready with Christly compassion, conscious of the rich blessings right at hand for all who "hunger and thirst after righteousness" (Matt. 5:6).
