KEVIN UNMASKS THE FALSE FACE OF ERROR

[Of Special Interest to Children]

This is a true story about a boy I know very well. It happened right after Halloween. Kevin had been out playing, when suddenly he came in to his mother, crying, and saying that his stomach hurt him very much. He was in such pain that he could not seem to straighten himself up. His mother said to him, "The first thing you must do is to be very, very quiet, for when you are screaming you cannot hear God talk."

The Bible tells us (Ps. 46:10), "Be still, and know that I am God." Kevin's mother explained that God is ever loving and kind to all His children and that as God's perfect idea, the child of His tender care, he could not experience anything but good. She reminded him that whatever was not of God could not be true. She said that when we are quiet, we are remaining calm in our thinking, and we can then become conscious of God's ever-presence more easily. Kevin seemed quieter now and was eagerly listening to what was being told to him.

His mother then added, "Do you remember a few days ago on Halloween when you were all dressed up in your duck costume?"
