Signs of the Times

From an editorial in the New York Herald Tribune New York

The New England settlers, Bradford tells us in his great history, "knew that they were pilgrims." That knowledge was their sustenance and staff. In every generation that has followed them, there have been pilgrims, too; for they have set foot upon unknown country, and they have gone forward with an awareness of strength greater than their own. While that spirit lasts, every Thanksgiving Day will be a day of hope, and the hope will never seem in vain.
