MIND'S GOVERNMENT OF ALL

Studying the four Gospels, one is struck with the fact that Christ Jesus was constantly proving God's universal government. In order to make this great fact evident, the Master had to dispel the illusion of the negative sense, which presents the opposite of what is actually going on. The understanding of his sayings concerning this negative sense, such as, "He is a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44), and, "The flesh profiteth nothing" (John 6:63), was lost until the discovery of Christian Science by Mary Baker Eddy. The fact that Mrs. Eddy restored healing to Christian worship is evidence enough that she saw exactly what Jesus meant by such sayings.

In Christian Science healing, positive Truth, God, destroys negative error, mortal mind, on the basis that the divine Mind is All and supreme over all. This fact, understood and clung to, brings the control of Mind into every detail of human life. Science demonstrates that a negation has no truth in it; it profits nothing. One meaning of negation is privation or nonexistence. And privation means the absence of positive character or existence. A negative mind is one which is actually absent or nonexistent, even when it is claiming to be present and powerful. The false, mortal sense of life has no ability to continue its deceptive control, once the truth of God's control is brought to bear upon it with sufficient understanding.

The fact that Spirit is All and that man is spiritual, the offspring of Spirit, bases every Christian Science demonstration. The truths which Science reveals remain abstract to mankind, however, until these truths dispose of the negative beliefs which seem to govern human thought. Then healing is certain, and mankind advance a step out of earthliness.
