RADIO PROGRAM No. 81 - Recovery from an Accident Through God's Help Alone

On this program August F. Schaefer of Irving, Texas, told of his own experience, as follows:

More than seventeen years ago, I was driving through a small town on a business trip. A train hit my car, pitching it about sixty feet into a ditch. I didn't hear or see the train and have no recollection of what took place. When I came to, some thirty-five minutes later, I was in a hospital bed with doctors and nurses surrounding me. My head was bandaged, and I was unable to move my left side, arm, and leg. I was informed that I had severe head and other injuries. Immediately I thought of God and of man's relationship to Him, as I'd learned through Christian Science.

The doctors were extremely concerned over my condition. I asked if medical aid of any kind had been given me, and they told me it had not. They had only washed the deep gash in my head and bandaged it as they were afraid to do anything else at that time. I declined the stitches they insisted were necessary, although I fully appreciated their anxiety. Two hours later my relatives arrived, and a Christian Science practitioner was called. The results of the practitioner's prayerful work for me were immediate.
