When I was a very young child...

When I was a very young child my mother was instantaneously healed through Christian Science treatment of invalidism. She had been ill for many years, suffering from numerous ailments. After the doctors had given her up Christian Science was presented to her. Her healing was permanent, and she has experienced good health since that time. She immediately took up the study of Science, and I was enrolled in the Sunday School. She and I have enjoyed church membership for many years, and two of my brothers are also Christian Scientists. We have had many wonderful healings in our home. A few of them have been those of influenza, pneumonia, blood poisoning, children's diseases, shingles, yellow jaundice, and effects of accidents. The healing of disease through Christian Science has appeared entirely natural to me ever since my Sunday School days, and each healing has brought a better understanding of God's omnipresent love and greater security.

Although I knew that Christ Jesus said (Matt. 19:26), "With God all things are possible," I did not fully understand the significance of the statement until after an experience I had shortly before the birth of our first son. A car in which I was sitting in front of a store was bumped by another car, and I received quite a jar. I felt something of a nervous reaction, and the next day I began to experience pain. About a week later I had to call my husband while he was at work, and he took me to my mother.

As soon as she saw me she realized that my condition was serious, and we called a Christian Science practitioner immediately. We were told not to be afraid, for there could really be nothing but good. Within a matter of minutes I felt the condition corrected. Five weeks later there was a natural and harmonious birth.
