SPRINGTIDE OF TRUTH

Spring is a season of renewal, when Mind's mandate for life and beauty finds response in nature, and loveliness returns to earth. Mankind need to respond to this same mandate, to throw off the inertia of wintry beliefs and let Mind transform their lives to new and fruitful purposes. Through Christian Science one finds that he can never arrive at a time when spiritual freshness and vitality are not available; when the inroads of deterioration cannot be stopped; and when vigor of thought cannot lead him to new fields of spiritual usefulness. Our loving Father provides a perpetual springtide of Truth.

Mary Baker Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 330), "With each returning year, higher joys, holier aims, a purer peace and diviner energy, should freshen the fragrance of being." The Science which our Leader discovered gives the basis for renewal of strength. It reveals that man is not a mortal struggling to retain the physical vitality of youth, but is an idea of Mind, which emanates from its inexhaustible source, always refreshed by the energies of Love and Truth which it embodies.

Giving up the false sense of self as mortal flesh, one finds his true identity in God's image; it is then that he feels Mind's refreshment as new concepts of manhood open to him. Paul wrote (II Cor. 4:16), "Though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day." This day-by-day renewal comes as we demonstrate the ceaseless flow of Mind's qualities, which man reflects. Love, wisdom, intelligence, and purity, understood and brought to light in one's thought by sheer love of them, make one's experience a constant springtide. It is these vital elements of manhood that renew sight and hearing, strength and health.
