If I were to waste time regretting,...

If I were to waste time regretting, I might look back over the past thirty-five years and wish that I had utilized my time in more earnest and constant study of Christian Science. But instead of regret, I wish to express deep gratitude that I learned of Christian Science thirty-five years ago. Also I feel gratitude for the progress that I have made in learning that God is a good God, a loving God, and that nothing is real but good.

Such an expression of gratitude necessarily includes heartfelt appreciation of the selfless love and patience of the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy. Her great wisdom and untiring efforts have given us the opportunity to learn through her writings the truth regarding God, and they have also given us an understanding of the Bible. I am grateful not only for my own blessings, but for the fact that the whole world today is better because of the revealed truth.

While I was in training as a medical nurse the fallacy of depending upon medical science became increasingly clear to me, and I was thus led to reason that if God were better understood, surely He could be an effectual help in sickness. The few statements regarding Christian Science which drifted to my ears impressed me with the natural simplicity of this Christ Science, and step by step I was led to take up a study of it and to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist.
