Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

North Attleboro Chronicle

Attleboro, Massachusetts (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Attleboro, held its dedication services yesterday in the church edifice at 85 County Street, Attleboro, both of which were well attended by members and friends.

The Christian Science movement in Attleboro began in 1919 when services were first held at the home of two practitioners. Early the following year Odd Fellows Hall on Bank Street was engaged for Sunday services and Sunday School classes. Later in 1920 additional space was procured in the same building for Wednesday evening testimony meetings and as a Reading Room. This group of Christian Scientists became Christian Science Society, Attleboro, in 1921 with thirty-one charter members. After two years of growth and progress, the members desired to become a church, and a change of title to First Church of Christ, Scientist, was granted in June, 1923.
