Christian Science was presented to me over thirty years ago at a time of great physical and mental suffering, the aftermath of an unhappy childhood spent mostly in undesirable environments. However, I did not accept its healing truths until after my marriage, when complications arose at the birth of a son and my life was despaired of. A practitioner was called, and after several weeks the healing came. This positive proof of the efficacy of Christian Science lessened my fear when another son was born. Two days before his birth I was informed by the physician, whom my husband had engaged, that I had a dangerous condition connected with childbirth. Through the practitioner's work the birth was harmonious, and no complications developed.

During the sears many healings and blessings have been experienced. My younger son was healed of a severe rupture. Just before World War II, when my older son was examined for enlistment in the Navy, he was informed that he would never be able to join because of fallen arches and a severe case of athlete's foot. He immediately secured the services of a practitioner and was completely healed in six weeks. His ship was at Pearl Harbor when that port was attacked, but he came through unscathed. For the many instances of protection my sons experienced during the war and for their safe arrival home, I am most grateful.

The following experience is proof that Christian Science can never be taken from us. Eight years ago, through failing to watch my thinking, I became very ill with a nervous breakdown. False charges by relatives who were antagonistic to Christian Science caused me to be illegally incarcerated in an institution for the insane. All books and literature on Christian Science were taken from me, and I was given up as hopeless. But the spiritual understanding I had gained through previous study sustained me, and I was released in six weeks. I went to the home of relatives in another town, and there my recovery went on. The healing was slow, but it was complete, and it has been permanent.
