OUR CHILDREN ARE SAFE
We who are parents have two great concerns for our sons and daughters: we want them to do what is right and to be free from harm. In other words, we want them to be safe from both moral and physical danger and to obtain that salvation which the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy make synonymous with complete safety from all evil.
We can help our children reach this perfect safety if we see that God is the great Father-Mother of all, the only creator. He is Spirit, and He is wholly good. His realm is the realm of Spirit, where His children dwell as spiritual ideas in perfect safety. Because He is the forever Father, His children are not immature adolescents, undeveloped and backward, nor reckless and unbalanced. They have always been His complete manifestation, mature and perfect.
By daily pondering and affirming these great truths regarding man we become able to silence fear for our young people's welfare and to overcome anxious wishfulness in regard to their choice of friends and activities, as well as ambitious longing for their success in humanly outlined directions. We then see that our children and those of our neighbors are, in reality, individual ideas of the divine Mind, that their identity is reflection, and that because their real selfhood is one with the Christ, they can demonstrate the truth which was voiced by Jesus (John 8:29), "I do always those things that please him." Then all the circumstances which seem to accompany adolescent youth will lose their power to affect us or them as we advance in our understanding that spiritual identity is as changeless and perfect as God.
