MIND IS EXPRESSED

Christian Science teaches that Mind is God. Although, as human beings, we cannot yet fathom the infinitude of Mind, we do see the evidence of divine Mind in understanding, intelligence, and wisdom. We see its expression in such qualities as joy, spontaneity, insight, perspicacity, and freshness. All right action and all right ideas emanate therefrom.

Mary Baker Eddy often refers to Mind in her books. In the Concordances to her writings there are several pages of references to passages dealing with this synonym for God. An earnest study of these is an illuminating and satisfying experience. A clear understanding of divine Mind will eradicate the fundamental or essential error of human existence: the belief in a so-called mortal mind, a mind apart from God.

In "Retrospection and Introspection" our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, writes p. 56): "All consciousness is Mind, and Mind is God. Hence there is but one Mind; and that one is the infinite good, supplying all Mind by the reflection, not the subdivision, of God." We see, therefore, that since there is one Mind, God's man does not have a little piece of Mind; he expresses the one indivisible Mind by reflection. True knowing is from the standpoint of Mind, absolute Truth, divine Principle. Matter cannot think; it is not intelligent. Paul said (Phil. 2:5), "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." This Mind is expressed in spiritual consciousness, in Immanuel, or "God with us," and it unfolds ideas that enable us to meet all our needs.
