Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy,...

Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 1), "To kindle all minds with a gleam of gratitude, the new idea that comes welling up from infinite Truth needs to be understood." I wish to express my sincere and humble thanks for the blessings that have unfolded to me as my understanding of Christian Science has grown. I have found that when I have been able to express gratitude and to let go of human will, problems of health, home, and supply have been worked out harmoniously.

About three years ago I was without a home, the unfurnished flat for which I had been negotiating having become unavailable. A Christian Scientist, whom at the time I knew only slightly, heard of my plight and lovingly offered me temporary quarters in her home until I was able to find suitable accommodation. I gratefully accepted her offer and remained with her for many months in complete harmony. I daily thanked God for His great goodness and for the love and care I received in that household, gratefully acknowledging that as a spiritual idea of divine Mind I was always in my rightful place. Quite suddenly, with no striving on my part, I was offered a delightful little unfurnished flat in the neighborhood in which I most desired to live. This occurred at a time when such flats were considered to be unobtainable.

One of the many physical healings I have experienced was that of a severe attack of a condition commonly called pinkeye. This condition manifested itself one Friday morning, and much fear was expressed in the office in which I worked that I should be absent from duty for two or three weeks. I was expected to usher at a Christian Science lecture the following afternoon, and I knew it was right that I should be at my place of duty. Although I was unable to see to read that evening, I prayerfully pondered "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468) until I fell asleep. The following morning when I awoke the swelling had disappeared, and I was able to fulfill my duty as an usher at the lecture. On Monday morning I was at my desk in the office, entirely healed. This was a matter of great mystification to the staff.
