EVERLASTING COVENANT

"I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. ... And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth" (Gen. 9:13,16). In such vivid, compassionate terms came the great promise from God to Noah and to all those within the shelter of the ark, built by him in obedience to divine direction.

This promise of God to "every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth" remains eternally as a vital, timeless assurance to be claimed, appropriated, experienced, and enjoyed by every individual seeker of divine good. Even as Noah by obedience and consecration learned the way to rise above the waves of error which might have engulfed his generation, so today can we seek and find salvation from every difficulty for ourselves and for others through a spiritual understanding of the same promise, for "the bow shall be in the cloud."

Mary Baker Eddy has given the spiritual interpretation of the Bible to humanity in her great textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." She has made practical the scientific way of life, clearly set forth and illustrated by Christ Jesus. She has presented the rules for such successful living throughout her writings, whether the need he the overcoming of conflicting ideologies or of physical phenomena —such as the surmounting of the storm by Christ Jesus or of the flood by Noah—or the destruction of sin, sickness, and death.
